Every path forward begins with a single step. This could be yours.
WayfindHer Counseling is a small, intentional practice near downtown McKinney — a little blue house shared with a physical therapist and a Pilates instructor. It's the kind of place that feels more like exhaling than arriving at an appointment.
Whether life feels too heavy to carry or just quietly off-track, you're welcome here exactly as you are.
Support for anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationships, identity, and the weight of everything in between — in a space that honors your full story.
Learn more →The outdoors as a co-healing space. Whether we're using nature as a lens for inner work or simply letting it soften what's hard to say, being outside changes things.
Learn more →Side-by-side conversation on a trail or path. Movement loosens things that sitting still sometimes can't — and many women find they open up more easily when they're moving.
Learn more →I've worn a lot of the same hats many women wear — teacher, school counselor, working mom, stay-at-home mom, and first responder's wife. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the many roles women carry and the way life can sometimes pull us in so many directions at once.
Outside of counseling, I value time with my family, being outdoors, and slowing down enough to enjoy the simple things that often get overlooked in the busyness of life. I believe there is something meaningful about creating space to pause, reconnect, and pay attention to what matters most.
More About BrookeMy work is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy — practical, goal-oriented, and built around actually shifting the patterns that keep you stuck. We'll look at thoughts, emotions, and behaviors together and develop tools you can use in real life.
We'll also look at the bigger picture. Sleep, movement, and nutrition have a deeper impact on our emotional health than we often realize, and small shifts in these areas can make a meaningful difference.
A 15-minute phone call — no forms, no pressure — just an honest conversation about what you're looking for and whether this feels like the right fit.
Schedule Free ConsultationMany women are used to managing what needs to be done, showing up for others, and continuing forward even when something feels off internally. Over time, that can lead to feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what you actually need.
Counseling offers a space to step out of that cycle — long enough to understand what is going on beneath the surface and begin moving forward in a more intentional way.
My approach is both reflective and practical. We take time to slow down and understand your experiences, patterns, and the things that may be contributing to how you're feeling.
From there, we begin identifying what matters most to you — your values — and use that as a foundation for meaningful change.
Counseling is not only a place to talk. It is a place to gain clarity, make decisions with intention, and begin moving toward the life you want to be living.
I take a holistic view of mental health, recognizing that emotional wellbeing is closely connected to physical health, environment, and daily life.
For some women, this also includes incorporating nature into the counseling process. Whether through traditional sessions, outdoor conversations, or Walk-and-Talk therapy, the goal is to create a space where you can think more clearly, feel more grounded, and engage in the work in a way that feels natural.
Many of the women I work with are capable and dependable, but feel internally overwhelmed or disconnected from themselves. I work with women navigating:
WayfindHer Counseling is located at 503 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, TX 75069 — a warm, inviting space in a restored home near downtown McKinney, often described as the little blue house. The space is intentionally designed to feel more comfortable and less clinical than a traditional office.
It is shared with other wellness professionals, reflecting a whole-person approach to health and healing.
You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning counseling.
When you're ready, I would be glad to walk alongside you as you begin making sense of where you are and where you want to go next.
Book Free ConsultationLife asks a lot of women. Balancing responsibilities, caring for others, and meeting expectations can leave little room to slow down and ask yourself what you actually need.
Over time, it can become easy to lose sight of yourself. You may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or uncertain about what comes next — or simply recognize that the way things have been is no longer working.
Counseling offers a place to step out of the constant demands of everyday life and create space for yourself — to reflect, gain clarity, and begin moving toward meaningful change.
My approach is warm, practical, and intentional. Together, we work to better understand your experiences, identify what matters most to you, and connect those values to real changes in your daily life.
Whether you are navigating a major transition or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, counseling can become a place to slow down, reconnect, and move forward with greater confidence and purpose.
Life doesn't always fall into neat categories — and neither does what you're carrying. You might see yourself in one of these areas, or several at once. That's okay.
Constant worry, overwhelm, that low-level hum of tension that never quite turns off. We'll work to understand where it's coming from and develop tools that actually help.
Feeling flat, disconnected, or like you've lost interest in things that used to matter. We'll gently explore what's underneath and look for pathways toward relief.
Career changes, becoming a mom, children leaving home, divorce, retirement — any season that asks you to redefine who you are and what you want.
Whether you're grieving a person, a relationship, a chapter of your life, or a version of yourself — grief deserves real space, not a timeline.
Communication patterns, boundaries, the exhaustion of over-giving — in marriages, friendships, family dynamics, or within yourself.
Questions about who you are beneath the roles you play. Especially common in seasons of change — and especially worth sitting with.
The emotional reality of pregnancy, new motherhood, postpartum anxiety or depression, and the identity shift that comes with becoming a mother.
Start with a free 15-minute phone call. We'll talk about what's bringing you in and whether this feels like a good fit.
Book Free ConsultationThe environment around us can influence the way we think, feel, and engage with the world. Research continues to show that spending time in nature can support emotional wellbeing by helping reduce stress, improve mood, and regulate the nervous system. Many people notice that they feel calmer, think more clearly, and breathe a little easier when they step outside.
Nature-based counseling intentionally incorporates the natural environment into the counseling process as a way to support the work we are already doing together. Nature is not the focus of therapy. You are. Instead, nature becomes part of the setting that can help create space for reflection, clarity, and meaningful conversation.
Research continues to show that time in nature has a meaningful effect on how we feel emotionally and mentally.
Traditional office counseling can be a great fit for many people. For others, sitting across from someone in an office can sometimes feel formal, confined, or difficult to settle into. Being outdoors often changes that experience. There is less pressure. There are fewer distractions. Conversations can feel more natural.
For many women, it becomes easier to slow down enough to notice what they are thinking, feeling, and needing.
Nature-based counseling can be especially supportive for women who:
At WayfindHer Counseling, I take a whole-person approach to mental health. Emotional wellbeing is often connected to many parts of life, including relationships, physical health, daily routines, stress levels, and the environment around us.
Nature-based counseling reflects that perspective by creating an opportunity to slow down and pay attention to the bigger picture — not just what is happening internally, but also the patterns and experiences shaping everyday life.
Together, we work to better understand what matters most to you and use those values as a foundation for meaningful change.
Nature-based counseling may include:
Sessions are tailored to your comfort level and individual needs.
If traditional counseling has felt difficult to connect with, or if you simply feel drawn to a more grounded approach, nature-based counseling may offer a different way to engage in the work of healing and growth.
Sometimes it feels easier to talk while doing something rather than sitting face-to-face in an office. Walk-and-talk therapy combines movement with the counseling process by taking sessions outdoors and allowing conversation to happen side by side while walking at a comfortable pace.
For many women, movement creates a different experience than traditional office counseling. Thoughts can feel less stuck, conversations often feel more natural, and there may be less pressure than sitting across from someone in a room.
Walk-and-talk therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and engage in the counseling process in a different way.
There is growing research supporting the connection between movement, nature, and emotional wellbeing. Many women notice that walking can help them:
There is also something meaningful about physically moving while working through difficult experiences, transitions, or decisions. While walking itself is not therapy, it can support the work we are doing together in ways that feel natural and grounding.
Walk-and-talk sessions can be especially helpful for women who:
Walk-and-talk sessions are designed to feel comfortable and approachable. Sessions are held at a relaxed pace and adjusted to your comfort level. Walk-and-talk sessions are offered at parks and nature trails in McKinney and the surrounding areas.
During sessions we may:
This is not a fitness session, and there is no expectation related to speed, distance, or physical ability. The focus remains on counseling and the work we are doing together.
Walk-and-talk therapy is more than taking a walk with someone. It is a counseling experience intentionally designed to support reflection, clarity, and meaningful change in an environment that often feels less formal and more natural.
If you are curious whether walk-and-talk therapy would be a good fit for you, a free 15-minute consultation can provide an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the process.
Book Free ConsultationAbsolutely. Your comfort, privacy, and safety are important considerations in every walk-and-talk session. Sessions take place during daylight hours at carefully selected local parks and nature trails that provide a comfortable environment for walking and conversation.
Because outdoor counseling involves factors that are outside of our control, we also closely monitor weather conditions. If weather, trail conditions, or other circumstances make meeting outdoors impractical, we can easily move the session indoors or transition to a virtual appointment.
The purpose of walk-and-talk counseling is not exercise or fitness. Rather, gentle movement can help promote reflection, emotional processing, and mental clarity. Our pace and route are chosen to support the therapeutic process, allowing nature to enhance the experience rather than distract from it.
It's also important to understand that outdoor sessions have different confidentiality considerations than traditional office sessions. While every effort is made to protect your privacy, there is always a possibility that we may encounter other people on a trail or in a public space. Before beginning walk-and-talk counseling, we'll discuss these limitations, create a plan for handling unexpected interactions, and determine whether this format feels like the right fit for you.
While outdoor counseling involves more variables than a traditional office setting, thoughtful planning and preparation help create a safe, effective, and meaningful therapeutic experience for many clients.
